At the beginning of the new racing season, Woodside Park Stud’s stallions Foxwedge and Written Tycoon have finished the 2018/19 season with a bang. Having recorded an impressive number of wins in the last week and month, they are both sitting inside the top four stallions by winners in the Southern Hemisphere.

With Written Tycoon picking up his fourth Victorian Champion Stallion title at the North East Thoroughbred Breeding awards on the weekend, and newcomer to Victoria, Foxwedge continuing to make a big impression with runners all over the country, there is plenty of optimism at the Tylden nursery ahead of another busy and successful breeding season.

“It’s brilliant to see the stats up there in black and white. Of the four stallions on our 2019 roster, there are only two stallions with runners currently in the Southern Hemisphere – and they are both on the leader board in the top four,” commented Woodside Park Stud’s James Price General Manager Commercial.

“You can talk up bloodlines, of which they both have in spades, but you still need to achieve the winners on the track to be successful. Written Tycoon and Foxwedge certainly both know how to do that, with ten G1 winners between them.”

Foxwedge is the youngest Victorian-based stallion to have produced three G1 winners, and with 22 winners in July, he had an exceptional month. While the champ, Written Tycoon with seven G1 winners, had an impressive 25 victors, nine last week and impressively six on a stand out Saturday.

“We couldn’t be prouder of the consistency shown by Written Tycoon for all our loyal breeders and clients. His progeny continues to perform in the city, and in elite group races all around the country. While Foxwedge, with only five crops at racing age, still has so much upside ahead, and we are thrilled to now be part of his journey at stud.”

“Woodside Park Stud continues to show its dedication and commitment to the Victorian breeding industry, and when you look at these results, it confirms our belief that we can deliver a quality stallion line-up that is equal to, if not better, than any breeding region in Australia.”

Woodside Park Stud warmly invites you to come to their annual stallion parade and open day on Saturday 17th August. Gates open at 9.15am for 10am parade at 95 Central Road, Tylden, Victoria. Please RSVP your attendance here.
