With two new victories in the last few days in Europe, Invincible Spirit’s G2-winning son Cable Bay has skipped two wins clear on the European first season sire table on individual winners.
Friday at Down Royal racecourse in Ireland, the Michael O’Callaghan-trained Isabeau made her debut over 1000m in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden, returning triumphant.
Jockey Leigh Roche jumped the filly away well from the gates before taking her to the lead, where she maintained her lead throughout to pull away for a length and a half victory over the Joseph O’Brien trained Tinkerbells Effect.
The very next day, another filly by Cable Bay was in the winner’s enclosure, this time the Richard Hannon-trained Separate.
Beaten a neck on debut, the filly headed to Lingfield for her third run, contesting the Martin Matthews 50th Birthday Fillies’ Novice Median Auction Stakes.
Settling off the pace, the filly made up good ground on the leaders before pulling away for a very smart three and three-quarter length win to become the seventh individual winner for her sire.
With his first Australian born crop of foals going through the weanling sales this season, selling up to $94,000 at the recent Magic Millions National Weanling Sale, breeders have flocked to the G1 son of Invincible Spirit who will once again stand at a very well-priced fee of $13,200 (inc. GST) this season.
