Woodside sells well at Magics

Woodside Park’s bloodstock manager Dean Harvey is delighted with the team’s results from the 2012 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

“We had a select draft of seven yearlings, a fairly even bunch, and they were well received,” Harvey said.

“Importantly, five of the seven will go to Victorian trainers, who obviously appreciated the fact the horses were SuperVOBIS, while our top selling colt (lot 505, Charge Forward-Cadillac), was bought by Bart Cummings, who has a Victorian stable.”

“The Charge Forward colt, offered on behalf of Lemrac Lodge and sold for $135,000, is both SuperVOBIS and BOBS, so he was a perfect fit for Cummings, who has stables in Sydney and Melbourne.”

Cummings had other reasons to buy the youngster—he trained the granddam, Taj Eclipse, to win the G1 VRC Oaks and also trained the colt’s half-sister Jewelled Crown to win at Randwick.

“Victorian trainers Danny O’Brien, Mick Kent, Tony Noonan, Terry O’Sullivan and Aquanita Racing bought Woodside Park yearlings, and we thank them for their support,” Harvey said.

Woodside Park also sold Ortensia’s brother, lot 438, for $130,000 to Queenslander Edward O’Dwyer.

Woodside Park’s seven yearlings averaged $90,000.
