The winning run rolls on
Mar 25 2010
Wadham Park’s outstanding winning run continued today at Ballarat when the promising, and well-bred, High Aspirations broke through for her first win.
The mare’s win comes after last Saturday’s winning treble at Colac for Wadham Park’s trainer Dale Sutton – and his fifth winner in seven days.
High Aspirations, a chestnut mare by Exceed And Excel from Career Start, won her maiden first up after a 21-week spell. The mare was placed at Murtoa at her only other outing. She warmed up for her Ballarat assignment with a good second in a barrier trial at Cranbourne on March 15.
At Colac, Sutton saddled six runners for three winners.
The trio, all ridden by Craig Robertson, were maidens – Edikeni (4YO mare by Johannesburg), Devil’s Dash (3YO gelding by Charge Forward) and State Of Affairs (4YO mare by Hussonet). More wins are in store for them.
Two days earlier, at Bendigo, the flying Bleaching showed blistering speed to lead throughout in a 1000m maiden. The well-bred Bleaching, a 3YO filly by Not A Single Doubt from Barrier Reef, was having her first run for 26 weeks and she looks to be city class.
Sutton’s season tally of winners is now 39 – he sits 14th on the Victorian Trainers’ Premiership.
