Rosehill success for Econsul's brother
The powerful David Hayes stable was seen to advantage at Rosehill on Saturday winning the restricted event over 1400 metres with O’Reilly five year-old Jedburgh, a $60,000 purchase from the Yarraman Park draft at the 2005 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
Third at his previous start at Rosehill in a similar race, Jedburgh obviously took benefit from the experience
improving sufficiently to score by a neck in taking his record to three wins and five placings from 17 starts
with earnings in excess of $86,000.
Jedburgh (pictured as a yearling) is a half-brother
to Group One MRC Caulfield Guineas winner Econsul
being from the Group One placed Centaine mare Gypsy Soul.
A sterling producer before her premature death in 2006, Gypsy Soul has had five foals to race all winners.
Gypsy Soul's last foal is the recently named 2YO Hayley's Mist a daughter of Exceed and Excel. Hayley's Mist was purchased for $235,000 from the Oakwood Farm draft by Roger Davis & Susie Yip.
Econsul stands this season at Woodside Park Stud for a fee of $11,000 GST INC.
